Within living memory no decade has been as generous in treating us to extraordinarily great vintages as the first of the new millennium. After seven years of ageing and maturing in our cellars, we are pleased to present the 2004 vintage of our Barolo Riserva ‘Villero’. This precious, rare wine is only bottled in outstanding vintages, and belongs to the “Artist Label Wines” introduced in 1974, and dedicated exclusively to our ‘Villero’ Riserva since the 1982 vintage.

The Artist who produced the work dressing our 2004 Barolo Riserva ‘Villero’ is the great Russian sculptor and painter Leonid Sokov. Born in Mikhalevo in Russia in 1941, he graduated from the Stroganov Institute in Moscow (Moscow School of Art and Industry) in 1969. In 1980 he emigrated to the United States of America, where he now lives and works. His particular Pop art-style – Sots Art – artistic compositions are filtered and adapted to Socialist Realism through the use of ideology as an object of consumption.

Total production for the 2004 vintage was 3.728 standard bottles, 100 magnums and 5 double-magnums.
